Start Envelope Half Triathlon

[notification]This can also be done on Saturday, June 14 from 16:00 to 18:00. On the race day, the registration desk is open from 07:00.[/notification]

At the registration desk, you will receive a start envelope. In this envelope, you will find the following:

  • Start number (pins available if needed during registration);
  • Chip+ (chip band if ordered during registration) otherwise bring your own;
  • Sticker set.

Medical Information

For safety reasons, we find it important to write any relevant medical information on the back of your start number. For example, the phone number of who to notify and any condition/treatment of that condition. Sports doctors will always check the back of your start number first in case of an emergency.

Swim Cap

The swim caps are sponsored by De Boer Swim. De Boer Swim is a sponsor of the Triathlon Platform Limburg. You may keep the swim cap.

What to Do

  • After receiving your envelope, you may proceed directly to the transition zone.
  • Make sure you already have your helmet on and fastened.
  • After the bike/helmet check, find your row where your number is located.
  • Hang your bike by your number on the rack.
  • Sticker your helmet, bike, and bag.
  • The safest place to wear your chip is on your left ankle.
  • Report at least 10 minutes before your start in the “start areas”.
  • If there is any last news, you will hear it here.

Courses

  • All courses can be found on the page “Race Courses”.
  • The swimming is first upstream and then downstream. Note that the current can be quite strong. Keep that in mind when choosing your start area. Do not overestimate yourself!
  • The swim start of the half triathlon is a rolling start from the Werthaboulevard. Participants depart every few seconds.
  • Start areas based on expected finish time of 1900 meters swimming.
    • Area 1 – 30-35 minutes expected finish time swimming
    • Area 2 – 35-40 minutes expected finish time swimming
    • Area 3 – 40-45 minutes expected finish time swimming
    • Area 4 – 45+ minutes expected finish time swimming
  • Half/trio 1 lap = 1900m
  • During the transition from swimming to cycling, follow the NTB rules.
  • First put on and fasten the helmet, then lead the bike to the mounting point. You are not allowed to cycle in the transition zone.
  • After starting cycling, you will go through a residential area via a bike path after about 2km.
  • This is necessary to leave the city. You will pass this section 4 times.
  • Always keep to the right lane where applicable when cycling. Also when passing another participant. There is oncoming traffic in the left lane.
  • You are fully responsible for cycling and running the correct number of laps. Keep an eye on your bike computer. We register the number of laps via SQM timing. Discussion about too few or too many laps is not possible. If you complete too few laps, you will be disqualified. If you complete too many laps, you have done a good training but disadvantaged yourself.
  • End of cycling. Dismount before the dismount line. The helmet remains fastened until you have placed your bike back in its spot.
  • Change cycling shoes for running shoes and start running.
  • When starting running, the time registration records your “start” running and the number of laps.
  • After the last running lap, continue the course to the finish.
  • Half/trio 4 laps running = 20km

Penalty Box Station

The penalty box is located at the end of the running course: Onenine running course – all races.

The following penalties can be given:

  • Drafting (if your start number is on the board, you take your time penalty before the end of your last running lap).

Coach Post and Care

On the Noordkade behind the Becs building, a zone for coaches is set up along the cycling course. Here you can and may hand the bottle to the participant. On the Becs parking lot, there is an opportunity to fill bottles. Keep the area clean.
